My Soulmate (Mera Mahi) Chapter 10

 My Soulmate (Mera Mahi)

Chapter 10

Fizza's blood pressure suddenly plummeted, causing a wave of concern to ripple through the room. Mani acted quickly, rushing to bring her some juice as she was helped into a nearby chair. The sudden turn in her health shifted everyone's attention away from Rehman. Zarif pulled a chair closer to her, his face etched with worry as he asked if she needed to see a doctor. In a faint, tired voice, Fizza declined, insisting she was exhausted from the day's events. Miyan Ji approached her tenderly, placing a hand on her head and remarking that she looked so beautiful she must have been struck by the "evil eye," prompting Roshan Ara to begin reciting prayers for her protection.

On the other side of the gathering, Nasreen noticed Anil approaching alone and immediately inquired about Rehman's whereabouts. When Anil informed her that his father had already left, Nasreen felt a surge of frustration. She struggled to comprehend how Rehman could once again create a scene that soured the atmosphere, especially on an evening meant to celebrate her brother's long-awaited return. She felt a deep sense of embarrassment at being left to explain his abrupt exit to her family. Zarmeena, sensing her distress, tried to comfort her by pointing out that this was typical behavior for Rehman, who often struggled to handle social gatherings of this nature.

Meanwhile, Anil's eyes were restlessly searching for Reja. Finding the lawn empty, he ventured inside, where he ran into Mani. With a mischievous glint in his eye, Mani whispered that the person he was looking for was currently in the drawing room with Fizza. He warned Anil to be cautious, as the room was filled with elderly ladies. When Anil playfully asked how Mani always knew his thoughts, Mani replied that Anil's eyes spoke louder than words ever could. Anil sighed, expressing his deep sadness that his father couldn't see the truth of his heart and his love for Reja the way Mani did. Mani offered a glimmer of hope, revealing that he had overheard Miyan Ji telling Zarif that it was his responsibility to unite Anil and Reja, hoping their union would finally end the long-standing rivalry between their fathers. Overjoyed by this news, Anil embraced Mani, feeling a massive weight lifted from his shoulders.

At the same time, Rehman was battling a severe headache and an overwhelming sense of unease. He instructed his driver to take him to the clinic of their family physician, Usman. After a quick examination, Usman noted Rehman's dangerously high blood pressure and asked what was causing such immense stress. Rehman initially tried to keep the matter private, but eventually confessed the truth to his old friend. He admitted that the girl he had loved during his university days—the one he had never truly forgotten even after marrying Nasreen—had suddenly reappeared as his brother-in-law's wife. Seeing Fizza again had shattered his composure. Usman warned him sternly that at his age, such emotional strain could lead to a heart attack, advising him to keep this secret buried to avoid a domestic catastrophe.

Back at the house, a rare sense of peace settled among the men as Siraj and Zarif engaged in a friendly conversation about property and business. Miyan Ji was relieved to see Siraj acting graciously, avoiding the usual conflicts. When Miyan Ji asked about Rehman, Mani explained that he had left due to ill health. Siraj felt a private sense of relief; without Rehman's oppressive presence, he finally felt comfortable enough to relax and enjoy the family's company. Outside, the preparations for a grand feast were nearly complete. Reja's young cousins from the UK were wide-eyed at the spread of traditional dishes like seekh kebabs, chicken tikka, and shahi tukda, most of which were entirely new to them.

As Reja walked through the lawn with her cousin Farah, Mani orchestrated a moment for Anil to approach her. Under the guise of calling Farah away for the elders, Mani left the two alone. After some playful banter where Anil teased Reja about her appearance, the mood turned sincere as he expressed how much he had wanted to see her. However, the moment was cut short when Reja spotted her father, Siraj, approaching with Zarif. Fearing his reaction, she urged Anil to leave quickly. As she hurried inside to call the ladies out for dinner, tragedy nearly struck. Reja tripped in the lounge, but before she could hit the floor, Anil—who had followed her inside—caught her firmly in his arms. In that breathless moment, their hearts raced in unison, only to be interrupted by the giggles of Zarif's children watching from the doorway. Flushed with embarrassment, Reja quickly pulled away and hurried toward the drawing room.
