Chapter 15: Truth Unveiled and Old Rivalries Thaw

Rehman called a close friend who held a high-ranking position in the police force and informed him about Aneel's situation. Based on his friend's advice, they decided it was necessary to involve the police officially to determine whether this was a mere accident or a calculated conspiracy. Within a short time, police officers arrived at the hospital to record a statement. The staff escorted them to Aneel's room, where Aneel recorded his official statement in Rehman's presence. Afterward, the officer asked, "Sir, do you suspect anyone who might harbor such enmity against your son?" Rehman replied with a cold expression, "It is your job now to find out who wanted my son dead. I simply want the culprit behind bars."

Just as the officers left, Zarif and Fiza entered the room. They inquired about Aneel's well-being and encouraged him. When Zarif asked for updates, Rehman said seriously, "Zarif, I have initiated an investigation. "My son's life is precious, and I cannot overlook this attack. " Zarif sensed Rehman's fury but remained silent, focusing on talking to Aneel, though the thought of Siraj kept flickering in his mind.

Meanwhile, Zarmeena entered Reja's room and found her crying on the prayer mat. She sat on the sofa, waiting for Reja to finish. As soon as Reja offered her final salutations, Zarmeena informed her, "Reja, Zarif just called; Aneel has indeed met with a terrible accident. " With tearful eyes, Reja replied, "Mama, Mani told me everything. My heart is desperate to go to the hospital, but Baba will never allow it."

After thinking for a moment, Zarmeena said, "Don't worry, I'll manage something. Call Samra and ask her to take you to the hospital. I will tell Siraj that you've gone to Samra's house for group studies." Reja's eyes lit up with hope; she immediately hugged her mother. "Mama, you are the best mother in the world!" Zarmeena kissed her and insisted she leave quickly before Siraj returned. Reja immediately coordinated the plan with Samra to avoid any blunders.

On the other side, Siraj called his trusted associate, 'Yawar.' Yawar answered, "Yes, Sir, how can I help?" Siraj asked in a gruff voice, "Yawar, did you or any of your men attack Rehman's son?" Yawar quickly clarified, "Sir, after you forbade it, I wouldn't even dream of it. None of us are involved." He added, "If you say so, I can find out who is behind this." Siraj agreed immediately: "That's exactly what I want. Find out who is trying to take advantage of our rivalry." Yawar promised a report within two days. Siraj took a deep breath, hoping that if the real culprit was found, Reja's trust in him would be restored.

When Reja called Mani, he mentioned that he was home while Zarif and Fiza were at the hospital. "Reja, you can come. "Uncle Rehman won't say anything to you in the presence of the elders. Relieved, Reja had the driver drop her at Samra's house, from where they took a cab to the hospital. She was terrified of bumping into Uncle Rehman, but fortunately, she saw Zarif in the corridor. Zarif sensed her anxiety and consoled her, "Don't be afraid, Reja. Rehman has gone out for some work. Only Nasreen and Fiza are inside; go see Aneel in peace."

The moment Reja entered the room, Aneel's pale face lit up. Zarif joked, "Well, the one we were waiting for is finally here—now the smile won't leave his face!" Nasreen and Fiza joined in teasing Aneel. Zarif signaled everyone to step out to give the couple some privacy. Reja had brought flowers, but Aneel simply took her hand. "Reja, what was the need for all this?" he asked softly. When he moved, a wave of pain hit his arm. "Don't exert yourself, Aneel!" Reja said worriedly. Aneel told her about the police statement. Reja remained silent, unable to tell him that she had suspected her own father, even though Siraj had insisted on his innocence.

Reja mentioned she had to leave soon since she told her family she was at Samra's. Aneel didn't want her to go, but he understood the circumstances. Reja then revealed she was canceling her university trip because her heart wasn't into it while he was in this condition. Aneel tried to convince her to go and enjoy, but Reja was firm. Aneel smiled, saying, "I am so lucky that you care for me this much." Soon, everyone returned, and Zarif took the responsibility of dropping Reja home.

Back at Rehman's office, Ramsha walked in arrogantly after a meeting. "Uncle, why did you cancel the nikah?" she asked sharply. When Rehman told her about Aneel's accident, not a single trace of worry or sadness appeared on her face. For the first time, Rehman found her reaction repulsive. He expected her to ask about the hospital, but she was only concerned about the wedding. When Rehman stepped away to take a call, Ramsha left without a word. Rehman watched her go, wondering if this girl was truly right for Aneel.

Mian Ji called Mani to ask about Zarif and Fiza, and Mani narrated the entire story of Aneel's accident. Mian Ji was deeply upset that the news had been kept from him. When Zarif and Fiza returned, Mian Ji scolded them before asking about Aneel's recovery. Zarif assured him that Aneel was better and would be discharged the next day.

Later, Siraj received a call from Yawar with crucial news. Yawar had captured the man who carried out the attack. "Keep him secure; I'm coming right now. We will take him to Rehman," Siraj said excitedly. Yawar and his team had caught a man working for 'Hashim.' Under Siraj's interrogation, the man confessed that Hashim had orchestrated the attack to secure the highway land tender. He wanted Siraj and Rehman to fight each other so he could finish his work quietly. Siraj took the culprit to the police station and explained the situation to SP Fakhar. The police immediately summoned Rehman.

When Rehman arrived and learned that Siraj had personally found the culprit, he was stunned. Rehman thanked Siraj. Siraj stepped forward and hugged Rehman, saying, "Business rivalries are one thing, but when it comes to our children, we are one." For the first time, Rehman agreed. They handed Hashim's man over to the police. Rehman thanked Siraj once more as they both headed to their respective homes.

Mian Ji called Rehman later, and Rehman shared the story of Siraj's cooperation. Mian Ji was delighted that, for the sake of the children, the ice between them had finally melted. Zarif asked Mian Ji about the highway land, and Mian Ji explained that the land would be extremely valuable in the future because a new route to the airport was being constructed through it.

Rehman returned to the hospital and told Aneel about Hashim's conspiracy. Aneel was relieved to know that Siraj was not involved. The doctors cleared Aneel to go home the next day. Rehman told Nasreen to go home and rest, but she refused. "I will leave tomorrow with my son." Rehman saw the depth of Nasreen's motherly love and then remembered Ramsha's coldness. He asked Aneel, "Did Ramsha call or come to visit?" Aneel shook his head. Rehman fell into deep thought, realizing he might have been making the wrong decisions all along.
